Schools have the option of administering some CAASPP and ELPAC assessments remotely (e.g., to students in LTIS).

Assessments that allow for remote testing are:

  • CAASPP ICA and IAB
  • CAST
  • SBAC
  • Summative ELPAC
  • Initial ELPAC

Assessments that should not be administered remotely are:

  • CAAs for ELA, Math and Science
  • Alternate ELPAC

To enable remote testing:

  1. Log into CAASPP or ELPAC TOMS using a LEA or Site Coordinator role
  2. Look the student up by SSID selecting the Students tab and entering the student's SSID and selecting [Search].
  3. Under the Actions column select the magnifying glass icon to view the individual student's profile
  4. From the student's profile page, select Test Assignments
  5. On the Test Assignments page, you'll see an option to select 'Yes' or 'No' (default) under Remote Testing Video Permission.
    • To enable remote testing, select 'Yes' then scroll down to the bottom of the page to select [Save].
  6. Notify the requestor that the update will take the system two days to process.  Meaning, if the update was made in TOMS on Monday, the student will be able to access the test remotely on Wednesday morning.
  7. And note that the test administrator will have to change the Session Type to "Remote or Hybrid" from the TA Interface test selection page before beginning their test session.
